How much I spend in one month as a 27-year-old Entrepreneur (Self-Employed)
I last wrote an article in December of 2020 chronicling my monthly expenses right after I decided to take a break from working full-time as a Software Engineer. After taking some time off, I have started on a new adventure as a full-time Entrepreneur and I am loving it!
I have always lived fairly frugally —in part because of the way I was raised, but I also genuinely enjoy budgeting and tracking my personal finances!
I hope this breakdown of my monthly costs is helpful to folks who are considering taking the leap into self-employment or a venture where your income is not guaranteed.
Monthly total: $2,537.67
Let’s zoom into the bigger categories a bit…
Mortgage/Rent/Utilities: $1,271.52
My portion of the rent and utilities for a 2-bedroom apartment outside of Seattle, Washington.
Health Services: $543.90
Medical: I use an “open marketplace” health insurance plan through Washington State that costs $412.13 per month. I also spent $10 on prescriptions. = $422.13
Dental: I pay $56.44 per month for dental insurance and $65.33 towards my Invisalign retainers. = $121.77
