How much I spend in one month as a 26-year-old in Seattle

I love personal finance. I admit I don’t love doing my taxes, but everything else, give me those numbers and graphs!

A month a half ago I left my full-time Software Engineering job to focus on learning and dabbling my hand at whatever I feel like doing at the moment. (Youtube videos, blogging, taking online courses, writing a book, selling inclusive tech gear…)

So, I have given myself one ultimatum: I will keep doing my own “thing” until I have run through $25,000 of my cash reserves or something pops up I can’t pass up.

I am incredibly thankful to have been taught financial literacy (thanks Dad!) and the value of saving/investing which has allowed me the financial freedom to take this time off.

How much did I spend the last 30 days? I’m a bit scared to check my accounts but let’s see…

In the last 30 day period, I spent $2,456.61.

Transaction breakdown for October 24th — November 24th

The largest expenses are not surprisingly rent and health-related.

Rent
I share a 2 bedroom apartment with my partner where we split the rent based on our incomes. Each month I pay approximately $1,232.14 including rent and utilities. (I will admit that we recently moved out of the city center to find better rental deals.)
